Norman "Butch" Ralph Shipley, 82, of New Haven passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024. He was born on March 25, 1941, in Fort Wayne, IN. He was the son of Ralph L. and Elenora Sophia (Stellhorn) Shipley. He married Cara Jane Bandelier on September 10, 1960. He retired from Phelps Dodge IR&W after 23 years then went on to work for Challenge Tool and Panaramic Corp where he retired from. He was a volunteer fireman for 22 years with the New Haven Fire Department. He enjoyed woodworking, assembling model airplanes, and fishing. He really enjoyed his two big fishing trips a year at Plamer Lake for over 40 years with his seven special friends Paul, Dan, Mike, Steve, Ron, Neil and Jerry.
He is survived by his wife, Cara Jane Shipley; daughter, Angela A. (Brian) Fahl of Clarksville, TN; sons, Norman K. Shipley of New Haven and Sidney K. (Denise) Shipley of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; and brother, Steven W. (Kim) Shipley of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Harold Duane Shipley and granddaughter, Natassja Shipley; his parents; brother, Richard Shipley; and sisters, Sharon Bunnell and Norma Peterson.
Norman's request was to have no visitation or service.
Memorials may be given to the East Central Fire & EMS in New Haven.
