Norbert “Norb” Lee Freiburger, 75, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Thursday, April 9th, 2026, surrounded by his family. Norb was born in Fort Wayne to the late Louis and Hazel Freiburger.
He graduated from Central Catholic. Norb worked for Slater Steel for 20 years.
He enjoyed watching his children’s sporting events and he spent much of his time coaching them. He was often found playing basketball, baseball or softball with his kids and their neighborhood friends. He was a huge fan of watching Notre Dame Football.
Norb is survived by his children, Lisa (Todd) Birch, Rachel (Andy) Hollingsworth, and Kevin (Amy) Freiburger; grandchildren, Zach (Deondra), Courtney (Adam), Colton, Brendan, Wyatt, Aubrey, and Lydia; 1 great grandchild, Draven; and grand dog, Roger; his siblings, Louis “Bud”, Ed, and Bill.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Rita Freiburger (Fox), and his brother, Joe.
Per Norb’s wishes there will be no services held at this time and he will be laid to rest next to his wife at Highland Park Cemetery.
