Nancy Lee (Smith) Murphy, 84, died on Monday, December 28, at Parkview Randallia Hospital due to complications from COVID-19. A native of Fort Wayne, Nancy was a graduate of St. Paul's Lutheran School and Concordia Lutheran High School. Among her places of employment, Nancy especially enjoyed working in Student Services of Concordia High School and took great pride in being the first secretary for the Fort Wayne Wizards. Nancy was an avid sports fan and coached girls' volleyball, basketball, and track at St. Paul's Lutheran for many years and, later, coached girls' basketball at Zion Lutheran School. She also deeply loved attending drama, music, and sporting events of her children and grandchildren. Surviving are son, Christopher (Susan) Murphy; daughter, Jennifer (Robert) Hobby; six grandchildren: Bradley, Abby, and Seth Murphy, and Hannah, Lydia, and Elizabeth Hobby; brother, James (Anne) Smith and family; and sister, Kathie (Laurel) Rowe and family. A Service of Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 9, 2020 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 917 W. Jefferson Blvd, preceded by calling from 10:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Service will be streamed live on Emmanuel Lutheran Church-Building Faith in the City or through their YouTube and Vimeo channels. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Out of respect for the safety of those present, facial covering and social distancing will be expected at all times. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be designated to the Drama Department of Concordia Lutheran High School.
