Michael Denver Slater, 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Bluffton, Indiana, Michael was the son of the late Denver and Anna Slater. He worked for General Electric for 35 years, prior to his retirement. He was a member of Aboite Lutheran Church. Michael enjoyed watering his garden, mowing his yard, and watching the wildlife around his home. He loved sports and cheering for the Indianapolis Colts. Michael cherished the time spent at Coldwater Lake, and hosting family for pool parties and cookouts. His loving and caring personality allowed him to be friends with everyone. Surviving are his wife, Penelope "Penny" Slater; children, Mark (Cathy) Slater, Kimberli (Tad) Steckbeck, Sara Slater, Kirt (Tammy) Slater, Kimberly (Keith) High, Arden Clayton, Dawn (David) Klinski, Karen Jeffrey, John Clayton; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings Tom (Judy) Slater, and Diane Foughty. Michael was preceded in death by his son; John Michael Slater; and brother in law, Geoffrey Foughty. A Celebration of Michael's Life will be held at 2pm, Sunday, July 4, 2021 at Mark Slater's Residence, 12012 Aboite Road Roanoke, Indiana 46783. Memorials may be made to Aboite Lutheran Church.
