Michael Eugene “Mike” Omspach, 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 28, 2025. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Mike was the son of the late Robert Omspach and Alberta (Beeghley) Matthews.
Mike was a graduate of South Side High School. Following graduation, he earned a degree from International Business College. With an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, Mike continued his education, earning a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Saint Francis and a bachelor’s degree in Geology from Ball State University. His love of learning and teaching ultimately led him back to school once again, where he earned his Doctorate in Education.
During his professional career, Mike taught at Ivy Tech Community College and Bishop Luers High School, and he served for many years as a substitute teacher with Fort Wayne Community Schools and Northwest Allen County Schools. His passion for education and his love for teaching children never faded throughout his years in the classroom.
Mike enjoyed many hobbies, including fishing, inspecting and collecting rocks, building his motorcycle, and working out at the gym. Whatever he pursued, Mike did so wholeheartedly and to the best of his ability.
Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Linda Omspach; his sons, Robert Omspach and David (Miranda) Omspach; and Linda’s children, Shannon (Tim) Brinneman and Drew (Marsha) Tindall, along with her seven grandchildren. Mike was preceded in death by Linda’s son, Tracy Tindall.
