Born James William Reynolds on August 15, 1948 in Fort Wayne, IN, he had his name changed to Michael Monroe "Bill" Casey as a young child when he was adopted by his step-father. He passed into the loving arms of Jesus peacefully at home on April 13, 2026 after a brief fight with cancer at the age of 77. Bill lived a life of love and humor, as he always could say something to make you smile and warm your day.
Bill joined the US Navy during the Vietnam conflict after high school at the age of 20 and was stationed in Newport, Rhode Island as a Hull Technician. He was honorably discharged in 1972 after three years of service to return to Fort Wayne to help his mother in her fight against mouth cancer.
After his service in the Navy, Bill was employed at International Harvester in Fort Wayne, and also worked with his brother Jim in the HVAC business in Kansas City, MO. In 1981 he joined the Salvation Army to become an ordained minister and officer. He spent 10 years as Corps Officer and Administrator in both Omaha, NE and also in St. Louis, MO. His later years had him working again in the HVAC business, and as managers at Taco Bell in Nebraska and Cracker Barrel in Nebraska and Georgia. The last 5 years of his life he was employed at Kroger, and then Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
Bill was married three times. He married his first wife Ada Cristina Nilsson in 1969. They shared two sons, Christian and Nathan Casey. Bill married his second wife Carletta Witcher in 1992, and they share one son, Dustin Casey. Bill married his third wife Lisa Curry in 2022, and became a stepfather to Joshua Curry.
He is preceeded in death by brother James Perry in 2000 and his mother Anna Croghan in 2001.
He is survived by his beloved wife Lisa Curry-Casey, and his sons: Christian Casey of Madison WI, Nathan Casey of Jefferson City MO, Dustin Casey of Lexington KY, and stepson Joshua Curry of Fort Wayne. He is also survived by his four sisters: Sharon Keeling of Eastanolle GA, and Carolyn Roser, Becky Oetting and Debby Baldwin of Fort Wayne. Bill was also a proud grandfather, and was survived by seven grandchildren.
Memorial service is to be held on 4/25/26 at 1:00 PM with repast to follow from 2:00-4:00 at The Salvation Army of Allen County Fort Wayne Corps Community Center, 2901 North Clinton Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46805.
