Michael "Mike" Gene Carey, 70, of Fort Wayne, went Home to the Lord on Saturday, June 3, 2023 surrounded by his family and friends. He was born to the late Howard Gene and Alice (Welty) Carey in Fort Wayne on October 6, 1952. He graduated from Elmhurst High School in 1971. Mike and his wife, Jeanette, owned and operated Wick's Air Filter Service for 41 years. He always said it was more enjoyment than a job. He loved talking with people whether it was his customers or while being a greeter at Blackhawk Ministries. Mike never met a stranger and was known as the "favorite uncle" to many. His favorite hobbies were drag racing, fishing for walleye and working with tools.

Mike is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jeanette; siblings, Sharon Faurote, Steven (Annette) Carey, Theresa (Michael) Clausen, Anita (Mark) Edwards, and Annette Carey; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca Sue Carey and brother-in-law, Richard Faurote.

Funeral service will be on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 11:00 am at Blackhawk Ministries (7400 E State Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN 46815) with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be on Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services (6557 N. Clinton Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46825). Burial will follow the service at Lindenwood Cemetery.
