Obituary

Merri Alice Hillard was born on March 30, 1964 in Portsmouth, VA and adopted by Robert Malcom Hillard and Kathryne B Hillard . Both remained in her heart and were always remembered in her "home" no matter where she lived. She was called home to be with the Lord on November 6,2025 in Fort Wayne, IN.
Merri worked as a Welder for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 10 years up until succumbing to a disability that promptly ended her career. In her free time during the week you could always find her out in Nature. She loved nature walks throughout the parks, or you could find her painting. Merri enjoyed music and you would often find her listening to oldies but goodies music and especially R&B. If there was a card game within reach Merri would be right there. Merri was and avid card player and simply enjoyed the cards. During football season you could catch her watching The Washington Commanders Football team play, and especially when they would play and beat the Dallas Cowboys.
Without fail nothing was more important to her than her family and family meant everything to her! Merri leaves behind four children, five grandchildren, two son in-laws and one daughter in law, a special life friend, extended family of in-laws, and friends all whom she loved dearly. Merri never met a stranger and she had the kindest soul, a caring heart and an unwavering faith in living life to the fullest. Merri is survived by four children: Tiffany (Michael Jr) Rockett of Suffolk,VA, Tatianna HIllard of Chesapeake, VA Amber (Mitchell Jr ) Easterly of Fort Wayne, IN and Nicholas (Jessica) HIllard of Chesapeake, Va , Grandchildren: Taylor, Adriana, Kolby, Auriel and Nova. She is also survived by her brother Robert Hillard Jr. and her lifetime special friend up until the very end Tyrone Williams. She was preceded in death by both her parents Robert and Kathryn Hillard of Chesapeake Va.
Merri's passing is mourned by her family and friends. While no formal services are planned at this time, her memory will be honored and treasured by all who knew her . Fairhaven Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements, and their support during this time is deeply appreciated by the Hillard family
