Obituary
Melvin Smith, 96, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2025, in Fort Wayne. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late William and Velma Smith. He will be remembered as a wonderful father and husband, who cherished his wife Nancy for 50 years. He found great joy in being with his wife on Lake Erie in their boat, or on the golf course. Everywhere he went he made new friends and met new people who loved him. He will be dearly missed by his many friends and family. Melvin is survived by his two children, Gary L. (late Patricia) Smith, and Debra L (David) Young; six grandchildren, Stefanie (Mike) Kley, Jeff (Jennifer) Smith, Michelle (Scott) James, Matthew (Megan) Smith, Brian (Joy) Young, Christina (Heather) Young; and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Smith, and brother, Samuel Smith. His ashes will be buried next to his beloved wife in Buffalo, New York at a later date.
