Obituary

Maureen Joanne (Tapp) Shepherd was born on August 21, 1960 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she lived her whole life. She passed on April 1, 2025, surrounded by her family.



Maureen was one of nine children. She worked as a nursing home aide, in her father's meat market, and as a bank teller for many years before working for Aetna insurance, where she retired after 36 years. She loved the beach, animals, and sports. Most of all, she loved her family. She was a loyal friend; a loving wife, mother, and grandmother; a wonderful daughter and sister; and an aunt to many.



She is proceeded in death by her parents, Philip and Joan Tapp; her son, Jason Dimit; her granddaughter, Tatum Dimit; her sisters, Kim Martin and Diane Rooney; and her brother, Mark Tapp.



She is missed on earth by her husband David Shepherd; her son, Matthew (Jessica) Dimit; her daughter, Molly (Evan) Slaubaugh; her grandchildren, Kenslee Dimit, Barrett Dimit, and Palmer Slaubaugh; her sister, Karen Stellhorn; her brothers, Steve (Holly) Tapp, Gregg Tapp, Scott Tapp, and Jeff (Amy) Tapp; and several nieces and nephews.



A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025 at 4:30 pm at St. Henry's Catholic Church, 2929 E Paulding Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46816, followed by an open-invite Celebration of Life party at 6:00 pm at her son's house 11529 Branstrator Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46809.  I n lieu of flowers, please donate to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance at https://ocrahope.org/get-involved/ways-to-give/make-a-donation/ .
