Matthew James Tremain, 35, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. A lifelong resident of Fort Wayne, Matthew was the beloved son of David and Cynthia Tremain.
Matthew had a kind and tender heart, and he always knew how everyone around him was feeling. He was very sensitive to other people's emotions and just wanted everyone to be happy. He was a man of few words, but he was always watching and noticing everything, even when he didn't seem to be. He was extremely persistent, and would seldom give up on anything.
His family, friends, and loved ones meant everything to him. The bond they shared was very strong. He treasured time with family and friends, and he especially loved holidays, with Christmas time being one of his favorite times of the year. He loved the decorations, and participating in family traditions.
Matthew had an incredible memory. In the third grade he impressed his class by naming every state capital from memory, in alphabetical order by state. He could recite books, videos and song lyrics from memory – not just words, but he could mimic the sounds and voices as well.
Matthew loved music, especially oldies, traditional hymns, and Christmas songs. He was blessed with a wonderful singing voice, and he would imitate other singers. He also enjoyed traveling and vacations. His favorite place was the beach, where he loved sitting in the surf and letting the waves crash around him. Buying a new boogie board to be his constant companion was part of each vacation. He also enjoyed movies, video games, jigsaw puzzles, the zoo, and trips to the Y or the gym.
Matthew will be remembered for his cheerful spirit, his love for his family, and the happiness he brought into their lives.
He is survived by his loving parents, David and Cynthia Tremain; his siblings, Aaron (Kimberly) Tremain and Chrissy Tremain; his nephew, Noah; and his niece, Amelia. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Informal visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, and a Celebration of Life program will be held at 2:07 PM on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Burial will follow at Cedar Creek Cemetery, 6858 County Road 11A, Auburn, Indiana.
Memorial donations may be made to WIHS Christian Radio, 1933 South Main Street, Middletown, CT 06457 (WIHSradio.org). Matthew's grandfather put WIHS on the air in October 1969.
In honor of Matthew's love for bright colors, the family invites those attending to wear bright, cheerful attire as we celebrate his life.
