Obituary

Matthew "Matt" Steven Jacobs, 57, of Fort Wayne, returned home to the Lord on Friday, August 22, 2025. He courageously battled bile duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma) for the last three years of his life. Matt was born to Steven Earl Jacobs and Candace (Candy) Diane (Johnson) Jacobs in Fort Wayne on March 28, 1968. After graduating from Paul Harding High School, he went on to study at Vincennes University and then earned his bachelor's degree in aviation from Purdue University. Matt married Michelle Dawn Grimes on April 3, 1993, at Faith Lutheran Church. Matt loved life and shared his friendship, caring nature and kindness with all. He was a faithful servant, attending Love Church since the early 1990s. He retired early this May, from the Allen County Surveyor's Office, where he worked since 2003. Matt thoroughly loved the following: Purdue football, vacationing in Fall Creek Falls with family, photography and aviation. Matthew was an incredible man who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Matt is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Michelle Jacobs; children, Ashley (Cesar) Balcazar, Nicholas "Nick" (Tien) Jacobs, and Jordan Jacobs. Matt is survived by his parents Steven (Shirley) Jacobs and Candy Jacobs. He is also survived by his brothers Scott (Cindy) Jacobs, Benjamin (Courtney) Jacobs, and Peter (Sarah) Jacobs. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Allison "Ally" Jacobs in 2019.

Funeral service will be on Friday, August 29 ^th , 2025, at 1 PM at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services (6557 N. Clinton Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46825) with visitation two hours prior. Visitation will also be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home on Thursday, August 28 ^th , 2025. Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
