Obituary

Mary Lou Guy, age 93, passed away Monday, September 6, 2021. She was born December 5, 1927 in Kokomo, IN to the late Earl D. and Mary E. (Morris) Calvin the third born of five children and only daughter. Two brothers, Malcolm Calvin and Richard Calvin preceded her in death with brothers Earl Calvin and Dr. James Calvin surviving. She married the love of her life, Paul Guy, on August 17, 1947. Paul preceded her in death May 10, 1999 that she mourned always thereafter. They blessed their three children with love, caring, teaching of The Lord and instilling the values of good work ethic, frugal living and true charity for others. I have attached a photo of Mom for pamphlet.

Mary was very active in her church teaching children's Sunday School and serving as Financial Secretary. She loved The Lord, was devoted to her faith and to living a life of generous love and compassion. She was an avid bridge player belonging to a bridge club in Warren, IN with many dear friends. She enjoyed travel with her husband to visit children and grandchildren as well as to see many sights of our spectacular nation. She graduated from International Business College as an extremely proficient secretary typing so fast that some typewriters could not keep up and taking shorthand as fast as one could talk. She later worked as tax consultant for law firms and tax preparers. Even in advanced age, she used her computer daily to track accounts, read news, do daily devotions, shop online and to prepare custom greeting cards for family who still cherish them.

Mary Lou is survived by her children, John (Cathy) Guy of Cleveland, TN, Jane Welch of Terre Haute, IN, and Jim (Tina) Guy of Roanoke, IN; twelve grandchildren and spouses, sixteen great-grandchildren; siblings Earl Calvin and Dr. James Calvin and many nephews and nieces.

A private graveside service will be held at Highland Park Cemetery of Fort Wayne, IN. on Thursday, September 9. 2021 where she will be buried next to her beloved husband, Paul. To sign the online guestbook, go to www.fairhavenfortwayne.com
