Mary Ann Franco Thorp, 61 of New Haven, Indiana, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, with her family by her side.
Born in Hillsdale, Michigan to Donald Wayne Thorp and Maria Anatalia Thorp. Mary lived a life defined by grace alongside her strength, and fierce compassion for others. Her smile and sense of humor lit up every room. She inspired all who knew her. There was not one cat or dog that didn't have a special place in her heart. She had an immense affection for all of God's creatures and gifts.
She graduated from New Haven High School and earned her bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Purdue University and her Master Degree from Indiana University. After, she made it her mission to create a fulfilling career dedicated to helping people of all ages, find their voice.
She was passionate about serving her community. Mary was the leader of the local swim team, New Haven Barracudas, for 20 years. Her constant presence and effervescent enthusiasm cultivated the growth of sportsmanship, character, tenacity, and most of all fun.
Mary is survived by her husband, John, her children, Dominick, Dain, Sophia, Isaac, her mother, Anita Thorp and older brother John Thorp. She was predeceased by her sister, Donna Loveless and dear father, Donald Wayne Thorp.
A memorial celebration will take place on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 4:00 pm located at Fairhaven Funeral Home in Fort Wayne, with calling from 2:00 pm until the memorial celebration at 4:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to your local animal humane shelter, the American Cancer Society or Cancer Research.
