Marvin Stoner, age 78, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on September 27, 2021. He was born in Indianapolis on October 3, 1942.
After graduating from Purdue University, he became a project engineer for International Harvester/Navistar where he worked for 43 years.
Marvin was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church where he served on the parish council for over 40 years. He was also a member of the Ft. Wayne York Rite, Mizpah Shrine, and Masons. Enjoyable pastimes were spent following Purdue sports, gardening, volunteering, and spending time with family and friends. He was famous for his peanut brittle which he shared with so many during the holidays. Marvin will be remembered for his mild manner, huge heart, and giving spirit.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Sarah, of 56 years, sons Dr. Mark (Sarah) Stoner of Ft. Wayne; Dr. Matthew (Ashley) Stoner of Orlando, Florida; 5 grandchildren: Freddie, Charlie, Gabe, Isabella, and Madison; brother-in-law Dr. Ron (Connie) Slyby of Ft. Wayne; sister-in-law Jeri Stoner of Archer, Florida; and 4 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Virginia Stoner, and brother Dave Stoner.
Service is 10:30 am, Saturday, October 2, 2021 at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 3535 Crescent Avenue, with calling one hour prior. Calling also 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Friday, October 1, 2021 at the church and a Trisagion Prayer Service at 7:00 pm. Entombment will be at Highland Park Cemetery.
