Marjorie G. Wright, 86, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. She was born to the late Raymond S. and Irene (Matthews) Groo on May 8, 1939, in New Brunswick, NJ. Marge married Edward A (Binky) Wright December 1955. Edward passed away December 2014. Together they raised a family of 6 children. They were both born in the state of New Jersey and had a lifelong love of the Jersey Shore. Marge is best known as a loving Mother to her children. Marge loved kids and was never bothered by how many friends we brought home.
Marge was also "Mom" to several Foreign exchange students. She knitted them into the fabric of our family. Vesa Jalava, Sverre Jarild and Jyrki Nikkila were part of our family from the day they moved into our home.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren no matter what they were doing she wanted to be a part of it. She also loved pets and there was always a dog, cat, bunny, in her house. She cared for everything from tropical fish to parrots, birds and a pot belly pig. Marge loved life in general and eagerly explored every crossroad she encountered. Marge loved to travel and went from coast to coast in the United States, Mexico and Europe in her life. Marge was very interested in all kinds of crafts. Everything from braided rugs to delicate Christmas ornaments, ornamental candles & refinishing antiques. Sewing was a self-taught skill she turned into a small business named The Wright Stitch. Marge was a very talented seamstress and designer. The focus of her business was figure skating attire, and it was all beautiful. She created everything from practice attire, to travel ware to one-of-a-kind performance costumes. She also created costumes for ice shows, theater groups and a professional wrestler. Marge was a co-founder of Summer Ice Inc, a group providing ice surfaces in the summer for Figure Skaters and Hockey Players to practice, learn and compete at McMillen Park Ice Arena. Marge also worked for FWCS for many years, as a school aid in the Fort Wayne area Middle Schools.
Marjorie is survived by daughter Nancy Brown; son Ray Wright; son Robert Wright (Jane Hulvey); daughter, Trinda Myers; son, Christopher Wright (Heidi) and son John Wright (Jennifer). Grandchildren; D'Arcy Roberts (Shawna); Kathryn Gill (Jesus), Whitney Wright (Eric Silvey), Edward Wright III (Kara); Kristen McAllister (Billy); Matthew Wright (Alexi); Nickolas Wright (Kathleen); Shelby Wright (Michael). Great-Grandchildren; Gabriel Myers, Alex Barrand, Luke Barrand, Angelo Gill, Antonello Gill, Cruz Gill, Logan Roberts, Rhiley Wright, Ella Silvey, Kira Wright, Delaney Heller, Bentley, Angel, and Liam.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Edward Wright; Son in Law Ricky Brown and grandchildren; Christopher Roberts; Ashley Myers; Aaron Myers; Payton Tinley Wright.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (4525 Arlington Ave, Fort Wayne, IN 46807). Burial will follow the service at Covington Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bishop Luers High School.
