Marie Phipps, 80, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday, August 20th at Park Place Senior Living. She was born in Lebanon, TN to the late Reed and Bonnie Claywell. Marie worked for Fort Wayne Community Schools for 22 years as a secretary. She was a member of Blackhawk Ministries, The Indiana Two Steppers-Mavericks, and Twilight Twenty Homemakers. Marie also enjoyed quilting and making floral gifts. Her greatest joy came from being a grandmother. She is survived by her three children, Curtis Phipps or Fort Wayne, Wayne (Tammy Jo) Phipps of Fishers, IN, and daughter Teresa (Greg) Bronkema of New Bremen, OH; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Tom Claywell, and Chris Claywell; sisters, Joanne Carlton, Patty Abshire, and Jeanie Bertram. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Phipps in 2019. Funeral service for Marie will be on Tuesday August 24th at 3pm with calling 2 hours prior at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services (6557 N Clinton St.). Preferred memorials in Marie's honor may be directed to Heartland Hospice.
