Obituary

Margery Alice Everitt, 89, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday morning, July 22, 2026 at Majestic Care of Jefferson Pointe. She was born on June 8, 1937 in Brighton, England and became a naturalized American citizen in the 70s while living in the downriver area of Detroit, Michigan.

She was an avid golfer when she won the Women’s Golf Championship in 1981, at the Water’s Edge Country Club in Gross Ile, Michigan. Throughout her life she enjoyed watching the professional golf tournaments aired on television. She especially enjoyed watching Scottie Scheffler play in recent years.

After moving to Fort Wayne, Indiana in 2000, Margie enjoyed her part-time employment at Kohl’s department store selling fine jewelry and later as a receptionist at The DeHayes Group insurance agency before retiring in 2008.

Margie has had many pets during her lifetime, cats and dogs, but had an affinity for dogs, especially her beloved Sara, a Doberman Pinscher.

Margie has been a lifelong lover of the fine arts and was herself an artist, who enjoyed painting, crocheting, and interior design. She enjoyed listening to classical music as well as other genres of music. Margie had a talent for growing the most stunning orchids, and was coined ‘The Orchid Queen’ by her eldest daughter.

Her quick wit and sense of humor, compassionate nature, as well as her beautiful English accent, and the sound of her voice will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Margery is survived by her daughters, Linda Krebs, (Rick) of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Bernice Johnson, (Mike), of Snowflake Arizona, Darlene Everitt of Flagstaff, AZ, and son, Bernie Everitt, (Brent Morgon), of Fremont, CA, and extended family of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
