Marceline Ruth Kile, 99, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, August 15, 2025. She was born to the late John Shortess and Idyle Fern (Johnson) McClure on April 7, 1926 in Olney, IL. Marceline grew up in Sullivan, IL. She was a Cadet Nurse during WWII. After raising 3 children, she worked as a Registered Nurse at Parkview Memorial Hospital in Ft Wayne, IN retiring in 1991. She collected dolls and antiques and enjoyed knitting, sewing, bowling and playing bridge. She was a member of Welcome Wagon, Sertoma and Daughters of the American Revolution.
Marceline is survived by her children; Lisa Kile-Jackson (Andrew), Brian Kile and Carrie Hayden Kile (Joan), grandchildren; Adam Kile, Kevan Kile, Mary Beth Morgan (Tony), Carolyn Deverell (Matt), Hannah Novak (Eric), Justin Jackson and several great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Catharine Kile and her beloved dog Biscuit.
Her memorial will be held at Metea Park Nature Center on Saturday August 30th from noon to 3pm. She will be buried at Greenhill Cemetary in Sullivan, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Peace Montessori Forest School.
