Manuel J. "Ferd" Fernadis, 96, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Ferd was the son of the late Manuel and Oma Fernandis. Ferd faithfully served on the U.S.S. Lymon in the Pacific during WWII. He worked with Dana for 43 years prior to his retirement. He served as past commander of American Legion Post #296, and as past president of Dana's Senior Union. Ferd enjoyed bowling and did so into his 80's. He also enjoyed golfing, walking 3 miles a day and hunting for squirrels and rabbits. Ferd is survived by his children Sandy (James) Romano, Karen Follis, Chris (Daniel) Topp; grandchildren, Jacinda (Jeff) Ashby, Troy (Tricia) Romano, Jennifer (Lee Jacobson) Green, Jeffery Topp, Janelle (Shawn) Erbe, Benjamin Topp, Tom Follis; 14 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Ferd was preceded by his wife of 71 years, Wanda Fernandis. Service is 4 pm, Sunday, January 8, 2023 at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, with calling from 1 pm until the service. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
