Lyman Ellsworth Klewe, 95, recently of Fort Wayne, IN, but formally from Akron, OH, passed away November 11, 2024. He was born June 23, 1929, in Kent, OH. Lyman's career was as a journeyman in tool and die and he worked in multiple shops in the Akron area. He retired from Hoover in Canton, OH in 1997.
Lyman met the love of his life Barbara Bradley and they were married on October 27, 1951. Together they raised three children: Jay, Jill and Janice. Lyman would describe himself as an avid life- long "apprentice" of tool and die work. He was dedicated and passionate about his profession. Lyman did gunsmith work on the side throughout his lifetime. He was a collector of classic rifles. Lyman enjoyed gardening and was a bird watching Audubon member. He was a dedicated follower of WWE. He lived a full life with Barbara by his side.
Lyman is survived by his wife of 73 years, Barbara (Bradley) Klewe and their children; Jay (Debbie) Klewe, Jill (Joe) McClard, Janice Sullivan; 6 grandchildren; Carrie (Dan) (McClard) Hartzell, Jason Klewe, Matthew (Dorothy) McClard, John L. Sullivan, Joshua Klewe, Patricia (Keith) (Sullivan) Heffington; and 12 great grandchildren. Lyman was preceded in death by his mother Lila (Ellsworth) Klewe and sister Phyllis Ellsworth.
Service is 2 pm, Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Saint Anne Retirement Home Chapel, 1900 Randallia Drive in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with calling one hour prior to the service. A private family burial will take place in Hillside Memorial Park in Akron, Ohio. FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services is handling arrangements.
