Luis Angel Muñiz-Cales, born September 23, 1953, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, passed away on May 9, 2026. He was a devoted father, proud veteran, and respected public servant whose life was marked by dedication, service, and love for his family.
Luis was raised in San Francisco, California, where he built the foundation of a life defined by hard work and commitment. He proudly served in the United States Navy, an experience that reflected his deep sense of duty and patriotism. Following his military service, Luis continued to serve his country through more than 30 years of government service, leaving behind a legacy of integrity and dedication.
Above all, Luis treasured his family. He is survived by his three sons: Ramon Antonio Muñiz, Michael Angelo Muñiz, and Steven Christopher Muñiz. He will be remembered as a loving father, a loyal friend, and a man whose strength and kindness touched the lives of those who knew him.
Luis will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the honor of knowing him. His family will notify friends, relatives, and loved ones of a future ceremony to honor his life, during which his ashes will be spread at sea in California in the coming months.
