Loydd Vernon Waikel (74) passed away after a 2.5-month battle with Esophageal Cancer. Born July 1

, 1950, to Lyle Vernon and Dorothy June Waikel, he proudly served in two tours during Vietnam in 1968-1969 and again in 1970-1971 with the 101st Airborne Division. He later served in 1981 with the 197th Infantry, going all over the world to Japan, Germany, and Korea during deployments. He later served as a Drill Sergeant before leaving the Military in 1989.
After the Military, he had a passion for Security, working at Glenbrook Mall and Lutheran Hospital for many years. He even ran his own security firm, "Greater Fort Wayne Protection Agency" for a few years.
He had a few hobbies, including NASCAR Racing, Camping, and tinkering with his cars.
Preceded in death are his Wife, Robin S. Waikel, Sister, Sharron Patterson, Brother, Herbert Arquette, Mother, D. June Waikel, Father, Lyle V. Waikel. He is survived by his children: Angela J. (David) Spare, Jami S. (Mark Velasquez) McElhoe, Crystal M. Waikel, Robert V. (Stephanie) Waikel, Addison J. Sanders, and his Shih Tzu Abagail. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Service will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services 6557 N. Clinton Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46825. The calling will be from 4 pm – 6 pm, with the Memorial Service starting at 6 pm.
