Linda S. (Leamon) Schenkel, 82, of Fort Wayne, died Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Byron Health Center. Born February 3, 1942 in Fort Wayne, daughter of John F. and Betty J. (Easley) Leamon. After high school, Linda worked for Lincoln National Life for 5 years. Starting in 1975, she worked in various positions at FWCS, retiring in 2007 from the Warehouse and Printing Services. She was an active volunteer in the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and Wallen softball and baseball leagues. Later in life she enjoyed volunteering at the Embassy Theatre and in the NICU department at Parkview Hospital.
Surviving are daughters, Catherine L. (Ken) Schannen of Fort Wayne, Laura J. (Milton) Westerfield of Fishers, and Amy C. (Glen) Boston of Leo-Cedarville; son, Daniel J. (Jennifer) Schenkel of Fort Wayne; brother, J. Mark (Marcy) Leamon of Leo, IN, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, James C. Schenkel; granddaughter, Rachel Boston; parents and sister, Susan Leamon Perl.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday, September 21 at Promise Lutheran Church, 7323 Schwartz Rd, Ft. Wayne, IN with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Visitation is also from 4 to 7p.m. Friday, September 20 at FairHaven Funeral Home, 6557 N Clinton St, Ft. Wayne, IN. Burial in Huntertown Cemetery. Preferred Memorials to Byron Health Center.
