Laverne "Vern" Van Drunen, 72 , passed away on April 19, 2026, at home. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan to the late Frank and Marge Van Drunen.

He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and his pets.

Vern is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cathy Van Drunen; daughters, Tina (Mark) Nussbaum; Wendy (Art) Bone; grandchildren, Sage Bone, Ciera Nussbaum, and Marisa Nussbaum; two great-grandchildren, Kayden and Harper; siblings, Lloyd, Lee, Larry, Ray, Lisa, Louise, Linda; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will take place on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 4 pm, located at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services (6557 N. Clinton Street) with calling from 2 pm until the service. Memorial donations may go to Humane Fort Wayne or Black Pine Animal Sanctuary.
