Obituary

Laureen "Lori" Elizabeth (Finley) Thomas, 68, passed away at her home at Big Cedar Lake on Saturday, April 26th, 2025. She was born on February 7, 1957, in Beloit, Wisconsin to Steve, Sr. and Faye (Gensrich) Finely.  Lori married her high school sweetheart, Doug Thomas, in 1975.  She will be remembered as a compassionate, caring person who brought light to everyone she met.

Lori is survived by her husband Doug Thomas, daughter Nicole (Jon) Rogers,  son Nathan (Erin) Thomas, siblings Judi Farmer, Steve (Fran) Finley, Jr. and Tim (Lynn) Finley, and three beautiful grandchildren, Kellsie, Cady and Ethan.

Lori retired from the United States Postal Service where she dedicated over 30 years of service as a Postal Carrier, Customer Service Coordinator, and Postmaster. Upon retirement she dedicated much of her time to her husband, children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed and was known for  hosting friends and family at the lake.  Lori was known for always going the extra mile; when she made pancakes, they were in the shape of animal, when her ladies came to the lake for lunch, there had to be a theme.  In everything she did, she gave her whole heart.  Lori also loved traveling and soaking up all the world had to offer.  She traveled to Ireland multiple times, always with family, enjoyed Kellsie's first trip to Disney, experienced the Great Smokey Mountains with Cady and Ethan, watched Doug as he played his Nickel Keno at many different casinos, loved soaking up the Florida sunset with her family and much more.  Calling for Lori will be Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 5 pm to 7 pm at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street.  The family would ask you not to wear black clothing but something bright and colorful as this is a celebration of Lori's Life.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Building Tomorrow, a non-profit with a mission that meant much to her - providing education and schools to children in sub-saharan Africa.
