Obituary

KYLER LOGAN SHIPLEY, 28, passed away with family at his side on 10/21/24. Kyler was born 10/19/96. He spent his younger years in South Whitley, graduating from Whitko High School. He had an amazing childhood in the country. Growing up on 18 acres, he enjoyed his dirt bike, ATV, canoeing, hanging by the river and driving the "jacked-up" golf cart, occasionally diving in the pool when dad and mom were not around. There might have been a time or two that he would toss a can of spray paint in the fire to watch it explode. His later years he moved to Fort Wayne, then New Haven.
Kyler was a special soul, with a one-of-a-kind sense of humor. He was an insanely deep thinker with a generous heart and a genuine friend. He was an avid Xbox gamer (he tried to teach his Grandpa Norman how to play Call of Duty), later graduating to PC gaming. He was a passionate beer aficionado. He found freedom and peace on his motorcycle. He excelled at everything he did. He was planning on starting classes at IVY Tech in the Spring. Kyler had a real love for cooking. He would spend so much time just prepping to cook a meal and it was awesome. He had a passion for gemology. He once removed all the stones from his mom's jewelry. Then proudly secured them all in the trailer of his 18 wheeler. He had a fascination with trains since he was two, he would run to the window at Grandpa and Grandma Shipley's house before anyone else heard the whistle. He considered a career with the railroad, but didn't want to be away from his family and friends.

Kyler had a soft spot for his two cats, Courage and Ice Cream- both recently passing.

He had a very special relationship with his cousin, Samantha (Jason) Price. They spent many hours bonding around the campfire.

Most of all Kyler loved his family and friends. He is survived by his dad, Norman Kent Shipley (Sonya Howard); his mom, Sandy Shipley (Sheri Turner); his siblings, Keefer (Matt) Kieffer, Austin, Madison and Hunter Lenhardt; his grandma, Cara Shipley; Uncle and Aunts, Angie (Brian) Fahl, Sid (Denise) Shipley, Betty (Mark) Bush, Judy Milum; and his cousins, Erica (David) Stone, Ashton (Derrek) Helgeson, Felicia (Jordan) Siewert, Samantha (Jason) Price, Xavier Shipley, Doug (Nicole) Bush, Maranda (Kyle) Whitenack.

He was proceeded in death by his grandpa, Norman R. Shipley; grandparents, Ed and Helma Melton; and his cousin, Natassja Shipley.

Kyler worked at Home Depot for 3 years. He started as a sales associate in the paint department, then promoted to Department Supervisor in Paint and Millwork. He was respected and loved by his co-workers, he went above and beyond for his customers. Home Depot has been a great growing experience for him. They were his second family.

Kyler was an amazing son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend. He will be deeply missed and he left us to soon.
