Kyle Harman Pendergrass, 87, passed away on August 6, 2026, in Fort Wayne. He was born in Richlands, Virginia, to the late Erston and Virginia Pendergrass.
Kyle worked on the railroad for 37 years, serving as a conductor. Outside of work, he enjoyed working in the garden and watching his favorite Westerns. Most of all, Kyle will be remembered for his outgoing personality and love of people. He never met a stranger and had a way of bringing energy and laughter wherever he went. Kyle was often the life of the party, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Kyle is survived by his children, Lisa (Dave) DeStefano, Rebecca Pendergrass, and Philip Pendergrass; grandchildren, Bryan (Megan) Hossman, Kelsey Beard, Hannah (Justis) Olivarez, Seth (Cerena) Pendergrass, Ezra Pendergrass, and Kylie Pendergrass; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Casey; and sisters, Ruth Ogan and Patsy (Harry) Richardson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Erston and Virginia Pendergrass; and siblings, Shirley Smith, Bob Pendergrass, Betty Smith, and Joe Pendergrass.
A public visitation will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at FairHaven, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow the service at Covington Memorial Gardens.
