Kim Allan Collins passed away on July 27, 2024. Born on August 21, 1947, in Wabash, Indiana, he was the son of Allen and Gloria (Kitson) Collins. Kim graduated from Kokomo High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Manchester College.
He served in the United States Coast Guard for four years, stationed at Governors Island, New York City. During his service, he met and married the love of his life, Linda, on June 30, 1973. After his service, Kim and Linda returned to Indiana, where Kim began his career at Magnavox and later retired as a senior test engineer from Kimball.
Kim was passionate about his many hobbies. He was an avid biker and loved riding around Fort Wayne and exploring across the country. In his first 10 years of retirement, Kim biked over 100,000 miles. As an engineer, store bought bikes weren't enough for him so he built his own. When he wasn't biking, he enjoyed nurturing thousands of plants in his backyard and taking care of his cat, TC. He had a passion for cooking and baking. As a scientist, he loved experimenting with recipes. His family was happy to be his guinea pigs. His culinary skills made every holiday special. As an uncle, he was an active participant in the lives of his nieces. He was always willing to help with school projects, attend events, and lead adventures. He was a life-long learner, history lover, and nature enthusiast.
Kim was a beloved brother and uncle. He is survived by his sisters, Amy Collins (David) Sites and Eileen Collins (Jeffery) Sites; and his nieces and nephews, Emily (Will) Cooley, Laurie (Derek Berggren) Sites, Sarah (Justin) Heiges, Rachel Sites, Corey (Alexis) Sites, and Michelle Mader.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Collins, and his parents, Allen and Gloria Collins.
In accordance with Kim's wishes, a private family service will be held. His memory will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
