Kenneth Ward, 72, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on November 1, 2024 at his home in Decatur, Indiana, leaving behind a legacy of humor and adventure. Kenny was born on May 13, 1952 in Decatur, Indiana. He leaves behind his wife of 23 years, Corazon; his son, Michael Ward; stepdaughters Genevieve (Allan) Juan, Apple (Joshua) Fenton, both of Ft. Wayne; sister Gayle Ward of Decatur; brother Keith (Brenda) Ward of Wren; and sister Kendra (Alan) Beard of Convoy. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Delores Ward.
He retired from Dolco Packaging with 30 years of dedicated service. After retirement, he worked several summers at DC Landscaping, putting to use his love for plants and landscaping.
He had a deep love for his second home where he embraced the culture and stunning landscapes of the Philippines, forging lifelong friendships and creating cherished memories with his wife and her family.
In his younger years, Kenny could be found turning cartwheels while roller skating at the local roller rink or mastering martial arts. A dedicated Boy Scouts of America leader and volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Kenny impacted many lives with his kindness, knowledge, and humor. With over 100 skydives under his belt, he embraced and found great joy in adventure. His love for exploration extended to metal detecting and arrowhead hunting, where he uncovered many treasures from the past. A lifelong outdoorsman, Kenny found solace by the water, casting fishing lines and enjoying the tranquility of the outdoors.
An avid photographer, Kenny captured life's moments with a keen eye helping to preserve countless memories for his family. As the goofy uncle, he was known for his endless jokes and laughter, ensuring that every family gathering was filled with laughter, joy, strange food (like his turtle stew), and warmth provided by both his hugs and the countless crocheted afghans he made.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services. Kenny will be profoundly missed, but the legacy of his adventures, his love, and a life well-lived will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the joy of knowing him.
