Kenneth John Schaab, Sr., age 67, of Fort Wayne Indiana passed away on December 12th, 2024, at his home. Kenneth was born October 6th, 1957, to Thomas Sr. and Rosella Schaab.
Kenneth was an accomplished football star in high school. He also enjoyed playing guitar, welding, woodworking, and working on vehicles. He was a talented artist. After graduating from Northrop High School in 1977, Kenneth worked at various jobs including Wicks Lumber and Club Olympia. His longest career was serving as a fiberglass specialist for Vee Engineering of Fort Wayne.
He met his wife, Shari (Smith) in 1980 and they married on May 31, 1986. They have two children, Chevon (born in 1980) and Kenneth Jr. (born in 1987).
Kenneth retired early due to medical issues at the age of 50 in 2007. This permitted him to enjoy time with his family and tinkering with his many projects. He enjoyed life playing with his dogs, working on various projects, and treasuring time with his family. A caring husband, father, and grandfather, he loved his family more than anything and was always ready to help someone in need. His talent for fixing and building things was a blessing to many. He was truly a "Jack of all trades" and could accomplish anything. His quirky, goofy sense of humor will be remembered fondly by many. Several of his multitude of hobbies and interests have been passed down to his kids and grandkids, such as growing plants, his artistic talent, his affection for Bert and Ernie and rubber duckies, midnight ice cream snacks, and watching Star Trek.
Kenneth Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Schaab, Sr. and Rosella Schaab (Houser) and his sister, Patricia Spencer. He is survived by his wife, Shari, their two children and their spouses, Chevon (Ray Ryckman) and Kenneth Jr. (Kayla Reed), and three grandchildren, Myra (14), Ray (12), and Kenneth Michael (1). He is also survived by his siblings, Thomas Schaab, Jr. (Rebecca), Robert Schaab (Joann), Diane Martin (Toni), and Donald Schaab (Joyce). His fur babies, Daisy Mae and Peaches also survive.
A viewing will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home on December 30th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Emmanual Saint Michael Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne on December 31st at 11am with 1 hour viewing prior. Burial will follow the service at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery in New Haven.
