Obituary

Kelly Sue Bulmahn, 64, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Kelly was a daughter of the late Richard and Anna (Miller) Axt. She attended North Side High School and spent her entire life in the community she loved.
Kelly met the love of her life, James “Jim” Bulmahn, in Fort Wayne. It did not take long for Jim’s fun-loving personality, sense of humor, and kind heart to win her over. They were married on November 5, 1983 and built a loving life together filled with laughter, companionship, and a shared appreciation for the simple joys of life.
During her working years, Kelly worked in telemarketing before dedicating herself to being a devoted wife and homemaker. She had a servant’s heart and genuinely loved helping others. Whether it was assisting family members, lending a hand at her sister’s reception hall for many years, or simply being there when someone needed support, Kelly was always willing to help.
Kelly found great joy in baking, especially her famous chocolate and carrot cakes, which were eagerly anticipated by family and friends. She loved decorating for every season, but Christmas held a special place in her heart. Her collection of Christmas decorations brought warmth and cheer to her home each year, and she delighted in transforming her house into a festive holiday wonderland.
A talented bargain shopper, Kelly had an uncanny ability to stretch a dollar and always seemed to find the best deals. Family members often joked that she could turn one hundred dollars into three hundred dollars’ worth of treasures.
Kelly also had a deep love for animals. Throughout her life, she cherished her beloved dogs, and in recent years she found great enjoyment in caring for the wildlife around her home, especially the squirrels she faithfully supplied with generous amounts of peanuts. She took great pride in her landscaping, flowers, and outdoor spaces, creating beautiful surroundings that reflected her caring nature and eye for detail.
Surviving are her husband, James “Jim” Bulmahn; their beloved pit mix, Hannah; siblings, Kathy Higi, Karen Johansen, Roger Axt, and Kristine Lunz; brother-in-law, Robert Klein; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Kelly was preceded in death by her cherished Labrador retrievers, Lady (“Aderbug”), Cooper, and Tucker; siblings, Rick Axt, Randy Axt, and Kimberly Klein; brothers-in-law, Michael Higi and Ron Lunz; and sister-in-law, Diane Axt.
Private family services will be held.
