Kathy Elaine Pettit, 67, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Huntington, Indiana, Kathy was the beloved daughter of Floyd Sheckler and the late Thais Sheckler (née Fields). She graduated from Huntington North High School and earned her bachelor's degree from Indiana University. She was a devoted Christian and member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Throughout her life, Kathy maintained an unwavering optimism and faith in God's goodness and mercy. She has left behind a legacy of kindness, love, and strength through her children and grandchildren. Kathy enjoyed creating beautiful things for the people that she loved. Her many talents included sewing, cooking, and gardening. Kathy is survived by her father, Floyd Sheckler and step-mother Jerrie Sheckler; children, Shara (Brian Citino) Compton, Ian (Leslie) Pettit, Blake (Anne Johns) Pettit, and Grant Pettit; grandchildren, Julian, Penelope, Gwendolyn, and Nora; siblings, Mitchell (Judy) Sheckler, Mark (Deanne) Hoffman, Lisa Sheckler, and Julia (Scott) Robbins. She was preceded in death by her mother, and her step-mother, Betty Sheckler. Service is 12 p.m., Monday, August 23, 2021 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 3705 S. Anthony Blvd, with calling from 10 a.m. until the service. Burial in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Huntington, Indiana. Memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
