Obituary
Kathryn Kelley, age 68, passed away at her home on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. Kathy was born September 29, 1956, in Marion, Indiana, to James and Rita Kelley.
Kathy earned an associate's degree in early childhood development and worked as a preschool teacher for many years. She worked as a phlebotomist at St. Joseph/Lutheran hospital for over 40 years. When asked what she did for a living, she would jokingly say she was a vampire. Patients loved her so much that she was often requested by name. She built lifelong friendships with the people she worked with. She loved hosting Christmas parties for them, and she always looked forward to their monthly dinners.
Kathy's favorite holiday was Christmas, and it always brought her so much joy to put up her village and decorate her home with angels and snowmen. She loved going up to the lake and playing cards and board games with her family, especailly euchre. Most of all, she loved spending time with her daughter, son-in-law, and especially her grandson. Any time she saw him, she would give him his favorite toy (Hot Wheels cars and monster trucks) and coins for his piggy bank.
Kathy was exceptionally kind, loving, optimistic, silly and selfless. Her bright and bubbly personality lit up any room lucky enough to have her. She had tremendous love for her family and friends, and she was equally loved by us.
Kathy is survived by her daughter, Kristine (Dave) Carboni; her grandson, Micah Carboni; five brothers and sisters, Janet (Ian) Martin, Jim (Pat) Kelley, Mary (Butch) Rostorfer, Marie Keller, Tom (Kathryn) Kelley; 10 nieces and nephews; and 13 great nieces and nephews.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, two nephews, and one great niece.
Funeral arrangements are being held at FairHaven Funeral Home at 6557 N. Clinton Street Fort Wayne, IN 46825. Calling hours will be from 4pm to 7pm on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, concluding with a rosary service at 7pm. A second calling will begin at 10am on Wednesday, June 25, with a service following at 11am.
