Kathleen Dent Klemme, age 80, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2023 in Fort Wayne. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Aland C. and Agnes K. Dent. Kathy worked as a French and Spanish teacher at Bishop Dwenger High School for over 40 years where she was belovedly known as Madame or Señora Klemme to generations of students. Her devotion to teaching extended beyond the students to her younger colleagues, often mentoring them in classroom management or digital skills. During her years at Dwenger she served as the longtime Chair of the World Languages Department, moderated the French, International, and Spanish Clubs, supervised student volunteers for Saints Alive!, moderated the senior class, sat on the National Honor Society Board, and organized many student trips abroad. She was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Kathy was preceded in death just over 4 month ago by her husband of 57 years, William H. Klemme. She is survived by her daughter, Katherine Amalia Klemme, of Chicago, IL; brothers Thomas L. (Joan) Dent of Santa Barbara, CA and Robert A. (Gretchen) Dent of Rochester, NY. and many loving nieces and nephews. A private family graveside service will be held at Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services are handling the arrangements.
