Karen L. Talmage, age 81, passed away on February 25, 2024 in Fort Wayne, she left the light of her life, Alan, and went home. She was the daughter of the late Olive and Paul Brumm. Karen has one brother, David, and one sister, Dr. Laurie Brumm who preceded her in death. She graduated from Southside High School and the Lutheran School of Nursing. She lived in Honolulu from 1965-1967 and moved to Maui with her first husband in 1969 until 1973 and served as the Assistant Director of Nursing at Hale Makua. Karen adopted her son, Aaron, and gave birth to her daughters, Lisa and Leah. After a year of being single she married Alan Talmage in 1977 and later adopted his four children, Liz, Kathryn, David, and Maggie. After marrying Alan, she worked as the Director of Home Care for the Medical Personnel Pool. Karen loved the 40 years she spent with Alan on the family farm and enjoyed traveling with Alan to China, Russia, Africa, and Europe. They retired to the Towne House in 2016. They have thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Service is 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 2, 2024 at the Towne House Retirement Center Chapel, 2209 St. Joe Center Rd., with calling two hours prior.
