Obituary

Karen A. Flickinger, age 81, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

Born in Logansport, Indiana, Karen was the daughter of the late William and Oneida (Snyder) Kiesling. She pursued her passion for education, earning both her bachelor's and master's degrees in Education from Indiana University. At IU, she joined the Kappa Delta sorority and remained involved with it throughout most of her life.

Throughout her career, Karen dedicated herself to teaching young minds, serving at Lincolnshire Nursery School, Canterbury Pre-School, and Fort Wayne Bible College. Her commitment to her students reflected her deep love of learning and her gift for nurturing others. She also worked as a chaplain at Parkview Hospital, where she especially enjoyed ministering to the elderly.

In her younger years, Karen enjoyed golfing, crocheting, photography, cake decorating, puzzles and traveling to visit friends. She loved to build and decorate doll houses, which she displayed in her house. She had a great fondness for word games that kept her mind active and engaged in her later years. A lifelong animal lover, Karen had many pets over the years, giving them all a loving home.

Surviving are her sons, Ron Flickinger II and John (Jennifer) Flickinger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron Flickinger, and her brother, William Kiesling.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, with calling one hour prior. Additional calling will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
