Julie Ann (Hendrickson) Nance, 75, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, after an unexpected terminal illness.
Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Julie was a daughter of the late Clarence Jr. and Geraldine (Stohler) Hendrickson. Julie's life was one filled with creativity, curiosity, and compassion. She approached each day with an adventurous spirit — always eager to explore new places, try new things, and transform old treasures into something uniquely her own.
Julie's greatest joy in life was her family, especially her three daughters: Genevieve DeRego of Hawaii, Maren Nance of Fort Wayne, and Andrea (Christopher) Tellez of Fort Wayne. She also cherished her stepchildren, Shelly McVea and David (Leslie) Nance.
A hardworking and dedicated woman, Julie spent much of her career as a restaurant server at many of Fort Wayne's well-loved establishments. She had a natural gift for connecting with people — her sense of humor, warmth, and welcoming spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met during her nearly 40 year career.
In retirement, Julie continued to embrace adventure, often traveling and exploring new destinations. Yet, her greatest happiness came from the moments spent with her family and beloved grandchildren.
She is survived by her children and stepchildren, along with nine grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life: Jaydon Nance, Jocelyn, Michaela, Olivia, Zoe, and Skylar Tellez, Summer DeRego, Mya McVea, Maxwell Walburn; and her brother, John (Jenny) Hendrickson. Julie was preceded in death by her sister, JoEllen Pepple.
Julie's memory will live on in the laughter she inspired, the kindness she shared, and the love she gave so freely.
Per Julie's wishes, a private family service will be taking place.
