Judith Louise (Ridlen) Baumgartner, 83, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Georgetown Place Senior Living in Fort Wayne. Born on September 30, 1942, in Garrett, Indiana, she was the first child of the late Robert James and Florence Adele (Carlin) Ridlen.
Judy graduated from South Side High School, Class of 1960. She went on to have an illustrious 53-year career as a real estate agent and broker, earning recognition as the local number-one award-winning agent for 35 of those years. A true pioneer in the industry, Judy helped pave the way for women in real estate through her hard work, dedication to her clients and employers, and unwavering integrity. Throughout her career, she worked for Ben Bunt, Roth Wehrly, and most recently Century 21 Bradley Realty, where she earned the prestigious Double Centurion Award.
Judy loved dancing from an early age—starting with watching American Bandstand, through the disco era, and later embracing ballroom dancing. She adored cats and leaves behind her beloved companions, Marcie and Brindle. Judy also took great pride in the beautiful landscaping around her homes, especially her rose shrubs, and loved watching the birds at her many feeders. She cherished time spent at her Hamilton Lake home and especially enjoyed boating there.
She is survived by her children, Patrick M. Rice and Lisa M. (Jan) Peels; grandchildren, Mieke Peels and Hayden Rice; sisters, Jeanne (Colby) Holmes and Jane Banks; sister-in-law, Lila Ridlen; niece, Kimi (Kris) Eckman; great-niece, Beatrice Eckman; along with many cousins. All held a very special place in her heart.
Judy was preceded in death by her brother, James Ridlen; and brother-in-law, Herb Banks.
A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior to the service. Calling will also be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Lindenwood Cemetery.
