Obituary

Josephine Hadassah Patricia Richardson, lovingly known as "Josie," passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on July 8, 2026, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, at the age of eight.
Born on March 27, 2018, in Toledo, Ohio, Josephine was the most joyful, pure, and beautiful soul her family has ever known. Her radiant smile could light up an entire room, and her infectious giggle, happy singing, and contagious laughter melted the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was the heart of her family—the person around whom life naturally revolved. Wherever Josie was, that was where everyone wanted to be.
Although Josephine was born with complex medical needs, those challenges never defined her. They never diminished her joy, her kindness, or her ability to love. She lived each day with a happiness that inspired everyone around her and taught countless people what true love, faith, and contentment look like.
Josie had an adventurous spirit that could never be confined by the limits of her body. She absolutely loved to travel and delighted in every new place, every road trip, every vacation, and every adventure her family shared together. Whether exploring somewhere new or simply being surrounded by the people she loved most, Josie embraced every experience with excitement and joy. She even loved airplane turbulence, greeting every bump in the sky with delight while everyone else held on a little tighter. She reminded everyone around her that life's greatest adventures are measured not by how far we can walk, but by how deeply we can love and how fully we can experience joy.
She was deeply loved by all who knew her, especially by her parents, many siblings, her devoted nurses, and the caregivers who became like family. Her very best friend in the world was her brother, Alexzander, who affectionately called her "Scubbers." Their bond was one of laughter, tenderness, and unwavering love.
To her mommy, Josephine was the perfect princess. She faithfully listened to every secret, offering the kind of comfort only she could give—and, as her mommy lovingly joked, she only told on her once.
The loss of Josephine leaves an unimaginable emptiness in the hearts of those who loved her. Yet every moment of heartbreak is outweighed by the immeasurable blessing of having shared life with her. If given the choice, her family would choose this pain a thousand times over for the privilege of loving and being loved by Josie. She gave far more than she ever received, simply by being herself.
Today, her family finds comfort in knowing that Josie is dancing in heaven—free from her wheelchair, free from pain, running through fields she never could on earth, and seeing everything with perfect clarity. She loved Jesus throughout her life, and now she lives forever in His presence, whole, joyful, and completely healed.
Even in her passing, Josephine's selfless spirit continued to shine. As her final earthly gift, she became an organ donor, giving other children and their families the hope of life. It was a beautiful reflection of the generous heart she carried every day.
Josephine's life, though far too short, was overflowing with love, laughter, faith, adventure, and purpose. She leaves behind a legacy of joy that will continue to echo through every life she touched. Though our hearts are shattered, we rejoice knowing that one day we will hear her giggle again, see her radiant smile again, and hold our perfect princess once more.
Celebration of Josephine's Life will be 11 am, Thursday, July 16, 2026 at The Chapel,2505 W. Hamilton Rd. S. Fort Wayne, Indiana, with viewing from 9 am until the service. Burial will follow the service

To all who were blessed to know her, Josephine will always be one of God's perfect gifts.
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change."
