Joseph L. Thomas, 80, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026, at The Cedars. He was born on September 24, 1945 in Paulding, Ohio to the late Isaac and Mabel Thomas.
Joseph received multiple college degrees and worked for GTE phone company. Before retiring to the family farm, he served as a telecommunications consultant in Europe. He was an avid woodworker and clock builder.
Joseph is survived by his spouse, Peggy J. Thomas; son, Jack (Jennifer) Thomas; stepdaughter, Amy (Brian) Nieuwlandt; grandchildren, Dietrick (Sara) Thomas, Leah (Noah Pemberton) Thomas, Lauren (Craig) Meyer, Kyle (Jessica) Nieuwlandt; great-grandchildren, Cecelia Thomas, Marie Thomas, Charlotte Meyer, Wesley Nieuwlandt, Cooper Meyer, and Lucia Nieuwlandt; sister, Alice Lawson; brother, William "Bill" (Nylice) Thomas
He was preceded in death by daughter, Katherine "Kathy" Thomas; siblings, Richard "Dick" Thomas, Stephen "Steve" Thomas, David "Dave" Thomas.
A private family funeral service will take place at a later date.
