Joseph Byron Schrock, age 80, passed away April 1, 2026, in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born in Bloomington, IL, to the late Joseph B. and Esther A. Schrock.
Byron celebrated 80 years of adventures and passed his love for adventures, mountains, and the great outdoors on to his kids and grandkids. If there was a path existing, Byron was always more likely to create a new path. Throughout his life, he exhibited family traits of honesty, being of service to others, standing up for the underdog, and a sense of humor (if puns are considered humor).
He started his adventure as a Christian at the age of 16 and lived a life faithful to God, family, and friends. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church.
Through hard work and discipline, Byron portrayed an enterprising spirit during his over 40 years as a broker and business owner in real estate.
Byron is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Rinkenberger) Schrock; children, Todd (Carol) Schrock, Troy (Jennifer) Schrock, Trent (Heidi) Schrock, and Larissa (Schrock) Kuykendall; grandchildren Eric (Nel) Schrock, Diana (Elijah) Walters, Navy Schrock, Merrit (Joe) Dusseau, Gray (fiancé Grace) Schrock, Hudson (Rebecca) Schrock, Hunter Schrock, Graham (Abigail) Schrock, Honor (Braden) Beyer, Eden Schrock, Laila Schrock; 7 (plus 1 on the way) great-grandchildren; and brother, Ken (Janet) Schrock.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Lanae Schrock; his sister Nancy Schrock; and his parents.
