Joseph "Joe" G. Gomez, 73, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, November 23rd, 2023. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, a son of the late Melquiades and Teresa (Gonzales) Gomez. Joe graduated from Central High School. He worked as a machine operator at Tetra Pak for 42 years prior to retirement. Joe loved to stay busy, so retirement didn't last long. Joe was a devoted husband, caring father, loving grandfather, brother and uncle to his family and wonderful friend. He never missed a school or church event that his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated in. Joe also enjoyed reading the paper, watching westerns, playing golf, riding his motorcycle, camping, going to Indiana Basketball and Komet Hockey games, and watching the Dallas & Colts games with his children, son-in-law's and grandchildren. He was a member of First Assembly of God and was proud to be baptized in 2022. Surviving are his wife, Irma Gomez; children, Richard (Caroline) Gomez, Connie (Fernando) Villafana, Veronica (Pete) Hoy, Kimberly Gomez, Heather Gomez; 23 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; along with 5 siblings and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his son, George Lechleidner; granddaughter, Noele Renee Trice; great-granddaughter, Madalyn Grace Solis, and several siblings. Service is on Monday, December 4th, 2023 at First Assembly of God, 1400 W. Washington Center Road, Fort Wayne, IN. 46825 with calling at 1pm and with service to follow at 2:30pm.
