Obituary

Jon Richard Halstead, of Redford, Michigan, passed away on February 20th 2026, in Auburn, Indiana; just days before his 68th birthday. Born on March 2, 1958, to Barbra Reinhart and Eugene Halstead, Jon lived a life defined by loyalty, strength, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to his family.

Jon was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved sister, Donna, and his cousin and best friend Stubby. He is survived by his sister Joanne; his cousin Debbie; his devoted wife and partner, Kathleen Halstead; his cherished daughter, Julie, and son-in-law, Shawn; his beloved son, Michael; and his treasured grandson, Silas, who brought him immeasurable pride and joy.

A Vietnam Era Veteran of the United States Army, Jon carried himself with quiet patriotism and deep respect for his fellow servicemen and women. His service was a point of pride and reflected the strength of character he demonstrated throughout his life.

Jon was an avid lake and boating enthusiast who felt most at peace on the water, where laughter echoed, stories were shared, and memories were made. A proud and loyal Tennessee Squire, he was a true Jack Daniel’s enthusiast — not just in name, but in spirit — valuing tradition, friendship, and raising a glass to life’s moments both big and small.

Above all else, Jon was a fierce family man and loyal friend. He loved deeply, protected fiercely, and stood steadfast for those he cared about. His presence filled a room, his stories brought smiles, and his strength anchored those around him.

Jon will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the stories he told, the laughter he shared, and in the lives of those who now carry his spirit forward. We love you Pops
