John R. "Jack" Rourke, 98, passed away Friday, September 3, 2021 at St. Anne Home and Retirement Community in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Born in Joliet, Illinois, Jack was the son of the late William and Eliza Rourke. Jack served our country in the Navy during WWII and was a survivor of the Battle of Leyte Gulf. He owned and operated a laundry service business and was in the banking industry during his working career. Surviving are his children, Nancy (Richard) Zimmerman of Fort Wayne, Mary (Dennis) Schnierle of Indian Rocks Beach, FL, Kathy (Tom) Hulina of Joliet, IL, and David (Denise) Rourke of Baxter, TN; grandchildren, Tim, Cathy, Joel, and Scott; great-granddaughter, Toni; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife, Norma Rourke in 2020; son, Timothy Rourke; grandson, Brian Hulina; siblings, Mary Magill, Jane McCook, and William Rourke. A Celebration of Life and Mass will take place in Joliet, Illinois at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Home Retirement Community or Heart to Heart Hospice.
