Obituary

John F. James, Jr., 67, died Saturday, July, 20, 2024 at home surrounded by his family. John was an honest, caring, hard working man who always put his family first. He had many life long friends. You could count on John to do things right and get things done. He was a firefighter and medic with St. Joe Township Fire Department for over 30 years. John was Fire Sales Manager at TJ Nowak and sold safety products, gear, and fire equipment to every fire department he could find in NE Indiana. Providing for his family was most important to him. John developed health issues and was later diagnosed with Good Pastures disease which took its toll on his body. As his health declined he continued to work until he had both bad lungs and a bad heart. In 2020 he developed acute kidney failure and started dialysis. In June 2024, it was found that his liver was starting to fail and his body was just too weak to continue on. We mourn the loss of our best friend, husband, father, grandfather, and brother but rejoice that he is now living in Heaven pain free and surrounded by those that have gone before him. John is survived by his wife of 48 years Marie; son, Andy James; daughter, Serena James; granddaughter, Mataya James; siblings, David James, Eugene (Linda) James, Kurt (Tina) James, Pat James and Pauline (Duane) Maas. Service is 11 am, Saturday, July 27, 2024 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 7710 E. State Blvd, with calling one hour prior. Calling also at the church on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 4 pm to 8 pm. Burial in St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association. FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services is handling arrangements.
