Obituary
John Thomas Harris, age 84, went to live with the Lord on January 18, 2025. Reunited
with him again are the loved ones who preceded him in death including his parents,
Curtis and Adah Harris, dearly loved grandson, Justin Hoag as well as many pets who
were also family to him. And joyously meeting for the first time are he and his brother
Earl, who passed from this life prior to John’s birth.
Above all else, John was a man of God and lived his life as an example of God’s love to those around him. He was gifted with many talents and was a beautifully creative individual, especially when it came to woodworking. He found his passion in “Papa’s Workshop” and created beautiful furniture and gifts for others. His greatest talent, however, was showing his unending love to his family. He always gave the most sincere and kind words of affirmation, as well as the world's best hugs. John “Papa” was happiest when surrounded by his family and would often say just how sweet life was to him. He took so much pride in 59 years with the love of his life, Sherry and he was anticipating his 60 th wedding anniversary that was to be celebrated on September 3 rd , 2025. He enjoyed sitting in his recliner with his beloved Shih Tzu, Allie while listening to music or a chosen audiobook. Each evening ended with his self-created drink “The Johnny Boy”, Fox News and most likely a snack.
Those left missing him are his wife Sherry Harris, daughters, Becky Sellars and Jenni (Jim) Hoag, grandchildren who knew him as the best “Papa” are Britnie (Jason) Jackson, Adrianne Sellars, Austin (Liz Fink) Sellars, Jamie (Anthony) Lucarelli as well as his great-grandchildren, Malachi, Asher, Charlie, Khloe and Elena.
To honor his wishes, there will not be a traditional funeral service. We will be honoring his life at 11 am on May 10, 2025, in a celebration of life service being held at Golden Years Homestead, 8300 Maysville Road, Fort Wayne, IN. We will be sharing photos, memories and stories amongst those who loved him and would love to have you with us. FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services is handling arrangements.
