Obituary

The beloved John Phillip Church, Jr. joyfully went home to be with the LORD on June 25, 2024.
John was born to John Phillip Church, Sr and Gladys Darlene Bertelson Church on July 21st, 1955, in Lansing, Michigan.
John attended Battle Creek Central High School and Kellogg Community College for business management. John participated in his school's orchestra playing violin and he also played guitar in a band for a short time as an adult. He was a youth leader in his church. He was a Boy Scout Den Leader, Asst. Scout Master and Webelos leader. John loved Appaloosa horses, trail riding and showing. He also was a motorcycle enthusiast that enjoyed tour riding and group rides. He was also fond of participating in reenactments of being a Mountain Man. He also adored to take day trips to quaint small towns and state parks. He especially found great joy in being Santa and sharing special moments children and adults alike.
John held various jobs including being a machinist at CNC Mills and Lathes. Duncan Aviation where he finished interiors of luxurious private aircraft. He worked in the retail industry as Management and sales for company such as Payless Shoes and Tractor Supply Co.
One of two of John's greatest love was for his wife and family. John has been preceded in passing by His Father and Mother. John is survived by his wife Victoria J. Monce-Church of Fort Wayne, Indiana. His two children Jeremy (Brandy) Church of Charlotte, Michigan and Jennifer Church of Battle Creek, Michigan. His siblings Charles "Charlie" (Lori) Church of Birmingham, Alabama. Darla Church of Battle Creek, Michigan. Christopher (Kelcie)Church of Battle Creek Michigan. Grandchildren, Connor, Ava, Elizabeth, and Kiera aka "Fred".
His Greatest love of the two was his Jesus. John became baptized on March 31st, 2024 on Easter Sunday and he said this.
"My name is John Church, and I became a Christian when I was about thirteen, and the Lord has walked with me through all of it, through the good times and the bad times, He has been there beside me, carrying me sometimes, and I just love Him so."
His last phone call to his wife he said, "I'm glad you were not here, it was pretty scary. I died for a little bit but I had to come back and tell you and let everyone know how much I love them."
Rest in Jesus our Beloved John Church, Jr. You will be sorely missed but we will see you again.
