Joan Mary Taller, 63, of Huntertown, IN went to be in the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. She was born to the late Lawrence and Gertrude Metcalf on April 10, 1961 in Elkhart, IN.
Joan held many roles in her lifetime. Most recently, she enjoyed filling in as office administrator for Resurrection Lutheran Church, and was also the Secretary for National Auto & Truck Museum in Auburn, IN, at which she won the 2024 Volunteer of the Year award. But her most cherished and honored role was being a wife of 41 years, mother of 4 and grandmother to 5.
Joan is survived by her husband, John R. Taller; kids, Kathleen (Scott) Andre, Allison (Eric) Lundberg, Rachel (Matthew) Mellencamp, and John A. Taller; grandkids, Morgan, Landon, Alexis, Ethan, and Ezekiel; siblings, Theresa (Richard) Cox, Catherine (Larry) Dunn, Margaret (Steve) Sawyer, Patricia Klepper, Mary Metcalf, Joseph Metcalf, Anne (Steve) Lindway, and John (Karla) Metcalf; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Joan dedicated her life to loving her family which is seen in every corner of their home. She was ready to hop in the car at a moment's notice if her kids needed help, she prepared for family get-togethers months in advance, and always had plenty of games ready for family game nights. Joan loved being a vocalist on the worship team at several different churches. Her happy place was on the deck overlooking the beauty of nature right in her backyard and her favorite place to be was wherever her grandchildren were.
Memorial service will be held on January 4th, 2025 at Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services (6557 N. Clinton St., Fort Wayne, IN 46825) at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior.
