Obituary

Joan (Williams) Gilpin, 96, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in Roanoke, IN. She was born on February 4, 1929, in Lima, OH to the late Harley and Lena Williams.

Joan attended Fort Wayne Bible College. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother (grandma great). She taught Bible stories in Child Evangelism Fellowship for over 45 years. She taught private piano lessons and played the piano, organ, flute and violin in church for many years. She was an active member of The Chapel.

Joan is survived by her children: Steve Gilpin; Gary Gilpin; Mark (Shari) Gilpin; grandchildren: Heather Morgan; Brett (Karen) Gilpin; Kyle (Katie) Gilpin; Luke (Molly) Gilpin; Kodi (Courtney) Mullins; Austin Gilpin;  Nick (Sara) Gilpin; Audrey (Tyler) Watts; Trevor (Rachel) Gilpin; great grandchildren:  Miles, Mila, Hadley, Jude, David, Michael, Anamarie, Adaline, Cree, Rae, Camden, Mabel, Parker, Nora, Annie, Lucy, Haven.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orton Gilpin and her four sisters.


Visitation will take place at The Chapel, 2505 West Hamilton Road S, Fort Wayne, IN 46814 Monday, March 17, 2025, from 4-7 pm. Funeral service will take place at The Chapel on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 11:00 am with calling one hour prior. A private burial will take place at a later date.
